After the past two years, just about everybody is up for a party and Carrathool residents are just as restless as everyone else.

Duty MLC for Murray, Wes Fang announced almost $120,000 from the NSW Government’s $25 million Reconnecting Regional NSW - Community Events Program for the Carrathool Shire.

Mr Fang said Carrathool Shire Council was successful in securing the funding for their community events program.

“Reconnecting the Carrathool through a variety of free music, community and youth functions will revitalise the region after a difficult couple of years,” Mr Fang said.

“Businesses will have the opportunity to supply products and services for these events, helping to stimulate the local economy.

“This is an exciting time for Carrathool with many fantastic events to look forward to.”

Carrathool Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Darryl Jardine welcomed the funding.

“Carrathool Shire Council would like to thank the NSW Government for making available funding to bring our community together following the difficulty of the past few years,” Councillor Jardine said.

“Several community groups across the shire have organised events and the residents of our shire are looking forward with anticipation to being able to come together through the various planned events.”

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW, Paul Toole said the Community Events Program would support the State’s events and hospitality sectors while bolstering economic recovery.

“The past two years have been difficult, with many unpredictable events including floods, drought, bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, but we know NSW residents will come out the other side,” Mr Toole said.

“People have been disconnected from family and friends but now they are getting out and about again, we want to see communities thriving and businesses benefitting from more local activities, events and opportunities in the regions.

“The $25 million Reconnecting Regional NSW - Community Events Program is part of the $200 million Regional Recovery Package, designed to support economic and social recovery across regional NSW that will create new jobs and support community events, shows and festivals to boost tourism.
