Griffith Easter Party is a hit

After 2020 people needed something to celebrate and the Griffith Easter Party was just what the doctor ordered.

Businesses, clubs, restaurants, wineries, and churches combined to provide a weekend full of festivities to suit everyone.

From the Stations of the Cross walk to the Bacchus fun run, children’s Easter brunch, Banna Avenue sidewalk sale and a variety of events at the wineries combined to provide a very festive weekend.

Griffith City Council’s events coordinator Georginia Horton said that organisers were pleased with the outcome.

“I spoke with the motels and accommodation was all booked,” Ms Horton said. “Banna Avenue was busy, there were people everywhere".

“Most of the wineries hosted events and all of them were fully booked early.”

In the coming weeks, a full statistical analysis will be carried out to discover the party’s impact on tourism and the local economy.

Regardless of those findings, though, it would appear that everyone had a great time which makes our Easter party a smashing success.

Buskers entertained shoppers as they bagged their bargains at the sidewalk sale, while local musicians and skilled entertainers wowed people at Memorial Park.

The Lolohea Brothers were one of the local bands playing over the weekend. These boys have become quite popular on the local music scene, with their awesome harmonies and skilled musicianship.

The Vintage Festival was a huge hit, with thousands of people including visitors to our fair city enjoying locally crafted wines, delicious cheeses, and fine dining.

Most of the local wineries hosted special events, all of which were well attended.

One event which is often overlooked due to the hooplah of Easter is the Stations of the Cross walk. The combined churches of Griffith rose early on Friday to walk the symbolic path in recognition and remembrance of the true meaning of Easter.
