Coleambally’s junior sporting community is cheering about their new change room facilities at Oval Number 2.
The changerooms, funded by the NSW government, were officially opened by Murrumbidgee Council Mayor Ruth McRae last Saturday in the presence of players, supporters and officials.
Cr McRae said the facilities were vital to making the sporting experience a positive one for junior players and she was very pleased to officially open the new facility.
“Sport is such a big part of our community and an important focus of Council’s community development activities,” she said.
“These change rooms, together with the redevelopment of Number 1 oval, will make the Coleambally sporting precinct an outstanding facility for players and supporters.”
President of the Junior Coleambally Football and Netball Club Danny Graham said he was thrilled to be involved in providing junior sportspeople with a facility exclusively for their benefit.
“The change rooms fulfil an important role in our obligation to provide a safe environment for our junior sporting participants and an overall benefit to our community,” he said.
Mr Graham acknowledged the contributions of former Mayor, council administrator and local member Austin Evans, cricket club president Michael Hodgson and football secretary Bronwyn Vearing and both local and state governments.
