Altina Wildlife Park welcomed a new giraffe calf just in time for Easter. The new baby boy is the fourth giraffe calf to ever be born in the Riverina.

Manzi carried her baby for 15 months before giving birth, while standing, to an over 6ft tall, 100kg son.

After tumbling close to 2 metres to the ground, the as-yet-unnamed giraffe was standing, drinking from his mum and running around the exhibit within the first hour.

Senior animal keeper Rebecca Surian said the park’s latest tall, dark and handsome didn’t have a name yet, but he was healthy.

“He will be reliant on his mother’s milk for up to 12 months and will start to eat solids around four months of age.”

Visitors to Altina Wildlife Park can see the newest arrival with his mother in their exhibit.
