For the past 18 months, naturopath Natalie Stewart has been baking grain-free bread for herself and others who may have a sensitivity to gluten and grains.

“It’s called Primal Alternative and it was started by Helen Marshall in Western Australia and is run like a franchise,” Mrs Stewart said.

“I am one of almost 100 women in Australia, and now the UK and the USA that bakes the products. We offer grain-free alternatives to bread, pizza, wraps, cookies & granola.”

“I got into it because I have a sensitivity to gluten myself, and found alternatives from the supermarket bland. These products taste great and are suitable for those following Keto, paleo, dairy-free and vegan diets.”

Each of the bakers uses the same recipes for their products, using nut flours and tapioca in place of regular flours & also catering for nut-free variations.

Mrs Stewart said that she had been a naturopath for the past three years and her focus was always on nutrition first because what we put into our bodies makes a difference to our health.

“I like to find and treat the cause of problems rather than just apply a bandaid to cover symptoms,” Mrs Stewart said.

Mrs Stewart will be operating her business from a new location on Yambil Street, so stay tuned.
