Riverina Field Days A Huge, Muddy Success

Rain brings crowds to the Riverina Field Days
They say the rain brings the farmers out, and they may just be right because the rain in no way dampened spirits at this year’s Riverina Field Days.
Just over 9,000 people trudged through the mud to get a gander at what the agriculture industry had on offer - and what an offering it had.
The place was teeming with people enjoying all of the attractions on offer.
There was farm machinery for as far as the eye could see as well as classic motor vehicles for the car enthusiasts, lawnmower races for the hotheads, helicopter rides and rock climbing for the adventurous and plenty of live entertainment.
The ever-popular snake pit was all set up, as was the animal petting pen and they also had pony rides.
There were whip-cracking demonstrations and cooking demonstrations as well as plenty of food, beer, coffee and doughnuts and enough candy to make the eyes of a sweet tooth to pop.
Factor in the fire engines, political addresses and sideshow games, and there was literally something there for everyone. The Yard Dog Trials were cancelled due to the weather, but all in all, there was a wonderful sense of community and freedom over the two-day event.
