Grab your musical instruments and head on over to Mountford Park in Leeton tomorrow and get involved in Jammin’ In The Park.

It can be daunting taking that first step from your bedroom or garage studio onto a real stage with a live audience, but it is a step any performer needs to take if they want people to see and hear what they can do; the music they can create.

Tomorrow, local youths from the surrounding towns will have an opportunity to showcase their skills on the Mountford Park stage in Leeton from 1 pm to 5 pm as part of Jammin’ In The Park.

Jammin’ In The Park is a home-grown musical event for young people aged between 12 and 24 years.

The event is open to musicians of all levels, from beginners right through to those with a little more experience.

The aim of the event is to give young aspiring musical artists to gain experience and confidence on the stage.

Jammin’ In The Park is open to bands, groups, musicians, singers, you name it.

It is all about making music and learning a few new skills along the way, so take your equipment and play your stuff.

Special guest artist Dookie will be performing on the day.

John Salvestro from All Areas Professional Audiovisual, who will be sharing his knowledge of production, said they just wanted to encourage young people to become involved in all facets of music.

“When I was growing up, music was everywhere.

“I think music is a good thing for their minds,” he said.

“They’re using their hands to play music, using their brains. “We don’t know much about the brain, but I think mentally it’s a good thing.

“It provides good stress relief.”

Take along your digital kit and spend time with DJ Ken and try your hand at being a DJ for a set.

What is a concert without an audience?

If you’re a music-lover without being a music-maker, you can take a chair or picnic rug and enjoy and encourage the local talent. The event is free courtesy of the Department of Regional NSW, Leeton Shire Council, Creative Connection Riverina,, DJ Ken and Access All Areas Professional Audiovisual.
